D’Socka sc was founded in 2001 in Gressoney by Mrs. Ferraris Luciana, who has started about 10 years ago the ancient production of traditional slippers, created with wool fabric and entirely hand sewn, in ancient times they were used also instead of shoes to work in the fields since they are very strong, apart from being very comfortable and healthy, being realized with natural material.By participating to regional markets (Sant’Orso fair) she allowed people to know and appreciate this product to a bigger and bigger audience and, due to the always more increasing demand she has thought this art to other women, giving origin to the D’SOCKA S.C. It has not been that easy due to the particular processing and many women have withdrawn, then slowly, together with other women, above all with Mrs. Anna Stevenin, they have been able to start a good cooperation, proposing new models always reproducing the traditional slipper, but a bit more convenient. With the small pieces of fabrics left from the production of the slippers and a bit of imagination, many small products and patterns took origin to decorate home, personal accessories such as coin trays, mobile phone cases, etc. Christmas decorations, all made in top quality boiled wool or in wool felt. The demand we receive of most of these objects are used for Christmas gifts, birthday gifts, Mum’s Day gifts, Daddy’s Day gifts, fancy sweet-box or company gadgets. We are always available to realized personalized products basing on the client’s request. We are in Gressoney St.Jean in Aosta Valley, a small mountain region in the North of Italy, bordering with Swiss and France. In our shop-laboratory you could admire also our very beautiful traditional costume, that we produce upon request tailor-made and with the hat decorated in gold. The costume is constituted by a red dress, the black apron trimmed with laces, the linen short with laces and the embroidered bib the hat in gold, an embroidered cuff completely in gold. A very beautiful and rich costume that is passed from mother to daughter, in Gressoney we still use to wear the costume, during weddings, baptisms, etc. and to the traditional celebrations, as on the 24 June, the patron saint’s day and on the 15 August during the procession in the streets of the village. In the ancient times the costume was simpler and without golden embroideries, the apron was very wide because it had to protect the red dress, since it was the everyday working dress, the short was in hand-made fabric but very simple and decorated with the initials, then during the years Gressoney became a holiday resort for the Queen Margaret and the costume started to become always more precious, with laces, the cuffs that the merchants of fabric imported from Swiss. During the time it has then become rich and very beautiful as it is today. ![]() ![]() ![]()
